Northwest is proud to launch our inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (Reflect RAP) following formal endorsement by Reconciliation Australia. This marks a significant milestone as we continue our commitment to recognition and reconciliation in Australia. Our Reflect RAP acknowledges and respects Australia’s First Nations peoples, demonstrating our ongoing efforts to foster inclusive and lasting relationships that are mutually beneficial.

 

Northwest acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia, especially the lands on which we live and work, and recognise their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. Northwest also acknowledges the Rangatiratanga of Māori as Tangata Whenua and Treaty of Waitangi partners in Aotearoa New Zealand. We pay our respects to all First Nations peoples and to Elders past, present and emerging.

Northwest’s Reflect RAP seeks to:
• Build baseline cultural knowledge and understanding with our staff in the region.
• Drive tangible, targeted actions with measurable benefits.
• Leverage our influence with community stakeholders, staff, construction partners, tenants and operating partners to improve reconciliation outcomes.

To bring our Reflect RAP to life and narrate the story of our reconciliation journey, we engaged T’Keyah Ware of the Antikirinya / Wirangu peoples, who has created an exquisite artwork which we have proudly displayed in our Melbourne office. The artwork illustrates Northwest’s journey towards reconciliation in both Australia and New Zealand and how Northwest seeks to embed Indigenous culture within our identity. The piece acknowledges the important role Northwest has as an owner, manager and developer of healthcare assets and precincts and the ambition to come together with First Nations to strengthen the relationship with Indigenous culture.

 

Northwest is particularly proud to be formally embarking on our reconciliation journey today on the anniversary of when former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made a formal apology to the Stolen Generation and Australia’s Indigenous peoples, on behalf of the Parliament of Australia. The National Apology has been considered a milestone step toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
