Sportsmed consists of a specialist orthopaedic hospital, clinic and consulting facility. The hospital is operated by Burnside War Memorial Hospital following the acquisition of the Sportsmed hospital business in September 2023. It has five operating theatres, 45 individual private rooms, a four-bed High Dependency Unit and 226 car parking bays. The clinic building and adjacent consulting facility includes ~30 consulting suites, treatment rooms as well as radiology services, a pharmacy and a cafe.

Sportsmed SA is located in the prominent South Australian suburb of Stepney. Less than 4km from Adelaide Central Business District, and 10km from Adelaide airport, the site boasts ample on-site parking and easy access via public transport. The area consists of low and medium density housing characterized by detached houses, semi-detached townhouses, units and low-rise apartments. The Royal Adelaide Hospital is located approximately 2 kilometres west. Burnside also operate an existing hospital in Toorak Gardens, approximately south-west.
